The Suffolk Joint Consultative Committee for Building

The SJCC is a multi faculty committee made up of the National Federation of Builders along with the professional institutions from the industry. It’s aim is to promote the Suffolk construction industry through networking and events and to lobby Client’s and training institutions as to best practice.
Gill Associates has been representing RICS on the committee for over 20 years . Starting with founder Kevin Gill, the company is now represented by Chris Keeble who also takes on the mantle of committee Treasurer.

As well as meeting through the year, the committee also arranges and chairs the annual awards dinner in May of each year. On this evening not only do nearly 400 regularly attend, but awards are given for design, craftsmanship and, importantly to up and coming apprentices in the industry.

In addition, for the last three years the SJCC has been active in planning the built environment section of the Suffolk Skills Show at Trinity Park. The event, on the outskirts of Ipswich attracts over 5000 students from nearly 50 schools and colleges, and is the industry’s attempt to reach out to potential recruits.

It is vital to the future of our profession and our industry that we attract the best and the brightest talent and that we can compete with others. Construction and Surveying is an ever changing career. No two projects, no two days and no two Client’s are the same. It offers a daily challenge to meet the aspirations and requirements of the team and its paymaster and can be a rewarding alternative to the legal and marketing professions who sometimes seem more astute at singing their praises than we do.

Gill Associates are proud to be part of SJCC and all it tries to do. As a company we actively encourage training within the office. We are always on the lookout for the next rising star and even if we do not have a current opportunity the industry has plenty to offer.
